Summer Bishil Bio

 Summer Bishil was born in Pasadena, California. Her family and her relocated to the United States when she was just three. Summer attended American and British schools, while her family lived abroad. She returned home to Pasadena California, just before her 14th birthday. Summer, who had been fascinated by the thought that she would one day be an actor from the age of five of her life, took her first acting class when she was 14. Nine months later, Summer got an agent as well as an manager and began to follow her goal full-time. She is currently working towards her college degree in her spare time. One of the young stars featured in Vanity Fair's cover story, "Hollywood's New Wave: The Hottest Kids in Hollywood" in August 2008.Was listed as one of the "Ten Actors to Watch" by Variety (2007).Nominee for Best Actress - Spirit Award. Bishil began taking acting lessons when she was 14 years old. Within one year, she signed a contract with an agent and manager. The first time she appeared in the short-lived Nickelodeon show Just for Kicks, followed by appearances on other children's shows.Bishil's first big break came when she played the lead character in Alan Ball's film Towelhead in 2007 as an adaptation of the novel with the same name. Slate critic Dana Stevens said, "Her performance is the most genuine thing in a film that for all its good intentions, comes off as phony and a little embarrassing, much like an extended PSA concerning inappropriate touching." Bob Strauss writes for many Los Angeles newspapers and states that Bishil "...is the best natural actresses on film of all time. Gary Goldstein in a September 12 Los Angeles Times review of the movie Towelhead and stated that "...newcomer Summer Bishil turns into a confident, thrilling performance as Jasira. In 2009 she filmed Wayne Kramer’s Crossing Over movie starring Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta, and Ashley Judd. Jay Reiner, Associated Press, appreciated her portrayal. She was chosen to play Azula in M. Night Shyamalan's film The Last Airbender (2010). The sequel was never produced.
