Dolly Rebecca Parton

Dolly Rebecca Parton was created on January 19, 1946, in Pittman Center (Tennessee). She was the daughter of Avie Lee Parton and Robert Lee Parton in Sevierville. Parton is a domestic worker and Parton is a farmer of tobacco. She was appearing on Knoxville TV at 12 years old. At 13, she was recording on the label of a small company, and singing on the Grand Ole Opry. After graduation from the high school in 1964, she relocated to Nashville to start her country-singing career. She began to fall in love with Carl Dean, who ran an asphalt-paving company. They were married on May 30th in 1966, and remain together. In 1967 , her singing attracted the interest of Porter Wagoner, who hired her to appear on his program, The Porter Wagoner Show (1961). She remained on The Porter Wagoner Show for seven years. Their duets became well-known and she was invited to perform alongside him at the Grand Ole Opry. At the point that her hit song "Joshua" reached #1 in the year 1970, her popularity had overshadowed his, and she struck on her own though still recording duets with the singer. In 1974, she quit her husband to pursue a solo artist. Dolly became a hugely popular musician and singer. Dolly was honored with many Country Music Association awards (1968-1971 1971, 1975-1976, 1975-1976). The diminutive (5'0") beauty seemed to be a perfect match for television. The mid-1970s saw her becoming a regular on TV. Dolly was frequently appearing on talk shows, and even before having her own Dolly (1976). Dolly won her first Grammy award in 1977 for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. Dolly made her film debut in the film 9 to 5, 1980. She received nominations for an Oscar for the song that was the title and also for Grammy Awards 2/3: Best Country Song and Best Female Country Vocal Performance. Her fame grew with being in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982) and in Rhinestone (1984) with the hit song "Tennessee Homesick Blues". She is the founder of Dolly Parton Enterprises, a 100 million-dollar media empire and in 1986 she launched Dollywood the theme park located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, celebrating her Smoky-Mountain upbringing. In the TV show of 1987, Dolly She was the main character herself. In the episode "Trio", she was awarded the Best Country Performance Duo or Group with Vocals Grammy in 1988.
