Emma Watson

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was the daughter of British parents Jacqueline Luesby (a lawyer) and Chris Watson (a French mother). When she was five, she relocated to Oxfordshire and was a student at the Dragon School. At the age of six, Emma was aware that she wanted to be an actor and, for a number of years she was trained at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a part-time theatre school where she studied singing, dancing and acting. When she was ten, Emma had already been taking part in Stagecoach productions and school plays. Casting began in 1999 for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone 2001 the film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling book. Emma was discovered by casting agents through her Oxford theatre teacher. After eight continuous auditions director David Heyman told Emma and other applicants, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint, that they had been selected to play the three lead characters, Hermione Granger, Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. The release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's first cinematic screen debut. The film was the biggest-selling film of the year in terms of weekend and opening-day sales. Critics have praised the film, as well as the performance of its young actors. The Daily Telegraph, a British publication with a significant circulation, called her performance "admirable". Later, Emma was nominated for five awards for her role in the film. She was awarded the Young Artist Award for Leading Young Actress in the feature Film. Emma was among the most famous actresses after the success of the film. Hermione Granger was her character for more than 10 years in the Harry Potter films. Emma was awarded two Critics' Choice Award nominations from Broadcast Film Critics Association.
