Steve Aoki

Steve Aoki was created in Miami, Florida on the 30th of November 1977. American electro house music producer, D.J., and record producer Steve Aoki is his stage name. & music executive. He is the third child of Chizuru and Rocky Aoki's kids. His father was a wrestler who founded the restaurant chain Benihana. He has two siblings, sister Kana (who is sometimes called by her middle name Grace) and brother Kevin (owner of Doraku Sushi restaurant). The half-sister of his is Devon Aoki, a model and actress. He was born in Newport Beach and graduated from Newport Harbor High School with an 1995 B.A. in badminton. He then attended UC Santa Barbara, graduating w/ 2 B.A. degrees: one of which was in feminist studies, and the one in sociology. He made DIY recordings and also hosted underground music events in his Biko room at the Santa Barbara Student Housing Cooperative when he was in college. The Pickle Patch became a concert venue in the time that the apartment was known as The Pickle Patch. He also was involved in student activism during his time at UCSB. He founded an organization called the Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist League Chapter on campus. In his early 20s, Dim Mak was establishing his own record label, that he named Dim Mak in honor of his idol from childhood Bruce Lee. In March of 2010 the artist released I'm in the House, a collaboration with the Zuper Blahq, the alter-ego of The Black Eyed Peas singer will.i.am. It was ranked the No. 29 in the U.K. singles chart in its initial week. It ranked in the top 5 on both the U.K. Indie Chart & U.K. Dance Chart. The song was featured in an episode of MTV's Jersey Shore. It also appeared in Piranha the feature film Piranha and also in the trailer for Think Like A Man. Producer and songwriter Lucas Secon confirmed in a interview with HitQuarters that he & Rivers Cuomo had recently worked together with Aoki on an album. In 2012, Pollstar designated him as the highest-grossing dance artist in North America from tours. His collaborations include artists like Afrojack, LMFAO and Linkin Park, Will.i.am. Lil Jon, Blink-182, Laidback Luke. BTS, Louis Tomlinson. Rise Against. Vini Vici and Fall Out Boy. He is well-known for his remixes with artists like Kid Cudi.
